Obama. Barack Hussein Obama, president of the United States of America, was elected November 4,2008. Citing an obscure law that said only citizens who are born in the U.S.A. are eligible to run for president, Obama's opponents said he was not eligible to run because he was born in Indonesia, not the U.S.A. (by some accounts he was born in Kenya). A controversy arose regarding Obama's birth certificate, which claimed that he was born in Hawaii, many people said the birth certificate was false.
